INTERVIEW 8

Q1Why did you choose to become an artist? Did someone influence you?
A1.I have always looked at everything around me with and eye to express what I see and how I can make my work a more beautiful place.
Q2What does being and artist mean to you?
A2. It is an exposure of my soul…most importantly to me as I learn about myself with each work.
Q3What are your artistic influences?
A3. I love exploring my inner landscape in intuitive work and my work as a garden designer helps be to appreciate and express the “outer” landscape.
Q4.Do you remember your first drawing/painting?
A4.I remember my grade 7 teacher putting my work on the wall and commenting to the class from time to time how she couldn’t believe how good the work was.
Q5. If you could use your art to express something socially important to you, what would you do?
A5. Consume less appreciate more. You don’t have to own the world to appreciate it.
Q6.If you could change a part of the world through your art, what would that be?
A6. Consume less and appreciate more.
Q7. Can you tell us your favorite artist(s)? Can tell us why? Did one or many of these artists influence your style? In what way?
A7.Many artists have been mentors and I learn and adapt from them all. I love good work even if it is not my style.
Q8. Can you share your creative process with us? Ex: How do you a start painting? Do you plan your projects?
A8. I do both. If I am inspired by something I saw and experience, I will work with that. If I want to express a transition, emotion, or just “play”, I will start my work allowing the shapes and colors to flow. Images will often appear and they let me know who or what they are.
Q9How long have you been an artist?
A9.Forever. I have been painting sporadically for about 10 years and more seriously in the last 3 years.

A10. Whatever moves me…mostly nature.
Q11. Do you have a favorite style? (Realism, abstract…)?
A11. Realism and intuitive fantasy
Q12. Which colours you prefer to use? What is your palette?
A12. I use a limited palette. The subject will determine my color choices.
Q13. Who would you call your teacher?
A13. So many…my best teacher is me…my willingness to learn.
Q14. What is your medium? Why? Do you like to try different mediums or you are more conservative person?
A14. I mainly use Acrylics and sometimes “mix it up”.
Q15.How do you see your future as an artist? What is your dream?
A15. I am living my dream in my private moments when I lose track of time and space and I forget to make dinner because I am in love with the canvas.
I hope that I can share with others some of my private joy.
