INTERVIEW 3

Q1. Why did you choose to become an artist? Did someone influence you?
A1.When I was a child I always thought that the most interesting and full of life people are artists. I was so afraid to think to be an artist – but that is really what I was dreaming about! I was drawing a lot, but my family wanted me to be in a scientific career -I became a mathematician. Here in Canada I found out that I could change my life – two persons influenced me a lot. First, my husband’s friend, he was painting in the evenings after his busy day on the construction. Just for fun. So, I thought, why not do the same for fun? But the most powerful influence came from my friend Sophie. She has an artist education background, but that time she was busy with her small kids and did not continue her artist career. So, we decide to start together.
Q2. What is your medium? Why? Do you like to try different mediums or you are more conservative person?
A2.My medium is acrylic and graphite. I think am more a conservative person and I do not like to jump from medium to medium until I think I am good in one. Then, I can move to another.
Q3. Do you have a favorite style? (Realism, abstract…?)
A3.My style is realistic, but I am trying to move to impressionism in acrylic. In graphite I still like to do super realism.
Q4. Can you tell us your favorite artist(s)? Can tell us why? Did one or many of these artists influence your style? In what way?
A4. It is hard to say who is your favorite artist – there are so many. I really like “the group of seven” art works. I like Emily Carr with her trees and incredible movement. Terry Miller is my favorite artist in graphite. Nihal Kececi is the artist that inspires my abstract works.
Q5.Which colours you prefer to use? What is your palette?
A5. I like to use primary blue, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, phtalo blue and white.
Q6. How do you see your future as an artist? What is your dream?
A6. I see my paintings in the Canada Birth Place Gallery side to side with Mike Svob, Diana Ponting and Amanda Jones.
