Q1 Why did you choose to become an artist? Did someone influence you?
A1. As a youngster I spent many hours sketching with my sisters. In later years I trained in the floral industry and found my artistic designs very rewarding. After retiring I was encouraged by my three artist sisters (www.familyfour.com) to venture into the world of art.

Q2.What does being an artist mean to you?
A2.Being an artist means creating a painting from “Seeing” the world around us with all its beauty, looking for the light reflections and shadows. It brings me joy when my paintings give pleasure to others.

Q3.Do you remember your first drawing/painting?
A3.My first drawing took place after retiring. It was a sketch of our first granddaughter. My there sisters had suggested this, the sketch exceeded their expectations. I was on my way.

Q4.Can you tell us your favorite artist(s)? Can you tell us why? Did one or many of these artists influence your style? In what way?
A4.My favorite artists are many. Georgia O’Keefe comes to mind for her large brilliant pieces, inspiring and Claude Monets soft wonderful Water Lilys. We saw both these artist’s works while in Denmark. The painting “Night Watch” by Rembrandt at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam will be forever with me, his use of light was marvelous.

Q5. What is your favorite subject to paint?
A5. The abundance of nature around us, children, flowers, animals and landscapes work well in all mediums.

Q6.Do you have a favorite style? (Realism Abstract) ?
A6.I tend to work in realism, but am branching out to be more representational, experimenting as I go.

Q7.What is your medium? Why? Do you like to try different mediums or are you more conservative?
A7. Currently my favorite medium is pastel, its pure vibrant intensity is very appealing. My adventure into art began with pencil sketching, watercolour, then into pastels. Presently I’m working with acrylic and experimenting in oil, which could become my all time favorite.
