Awards & Reception to follow in the Artrium

Over 60 nations were represented in the 500 submissions to this years’ Burnaby Film Forum, giving it a distinct international flavor. The short under 4 minutes in length submissions cover a broad cross section of genres, from experimental to documentary. 20 of the best submissions have been selected and compiled, into an approximately one hour presentation and will be screened on Friday, September 30 at 6:00 pm, as part of 2016 Culture Days, at the James Cowan Theatre. These entertaining and creative films will amaze viewers with their unique perspectives and fresh ideas. Best of all, this event is free and suitable for family viewing.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS & GUIDELINES


1) ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility is determined by category.  Please carefully read the details and submit all films on FilmFreeway.

Animation – You must be a resident of British Columbia, CANADA.  No age limit.

Burnaby School District  Youth/Student – You must be a resident of British Columbia, CANADA, be a student in the Burnaby School district and be under the age of 19.  You are required to complete an application form and mail it to info@burnabyartscouncil.org.  Click on button below to print out the application.  Email this form to:  info@burnabyartscouncil.org

Burnaby School Student Application

Canada – You must live and be a CANADIAN citizen. No age limit.  Theme is Canada, the rest is up to you.

Documentary – You must be a resident of British Columbia, CANADA.  There is no age limit.

Experimental – You must be a resident of British Columbia, CANADA. There is no age limit.

International – You must be a resident OUTSIDE of CANADA. There is no age limit.

Music – You must be a resident of British Columbia, CANADA.  There is no age limit

Youth – You must be a resident of British Columbia, CANADA and you MUST be under the age of 19.

 

We encourage submissions that are independently produced. We welcome films and videos of all genres, including but not limited to: narrative, documentary, short, animation, experimental, etc.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

2) SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

ALL films must be submitted via FILM FREEWAY in an mp4 format.

3) SUBMISSION FORMAT

Submission Format is DVD MPEG 4. Only this format will be considered and reviewed. MUST include a complete list of submissions labeled with title, director’s name, running time, year and contact information

4) DISCLAIMER

By submitting to this forum, you hereby grant the Burnaby Arts Council permission to screen and otherwise use the aforementioned title (the “Work”) in connection with the 2015 forum. You represent and warrant that you have all the rights in and to the Work and/or you have the authority to grant the BAC the rights to screen and otherwise use the Work. Your film forum acceptance also grants BAC permission to use stills and excerpts from the Work for promotional and publicity use.
