Burnaby Summer Theatre

Summer 2011

Thanks in part to sponsors Telus and Chevron, this summer we were pleased to have Burnaby Summer Theatre Troupe present “SELERA and the Temple Of Zoom!”. The troupe, consisting mainly of students from Langara College’s “Studio 58″ theatre program, gain practical hands-on experience in theatre production. The program also provides the community a service by enriching the local arts scene and bringing affordable, lively, family-friendly entertainment for children and adults alike. A win-win equation (as the many smiles can attest)!

This year, the troupe performed at the Burnaby Arts Council in July, toured the Lower Mainland in July and August, and also made time to visit children’s day camps, community centres, and parks along the way. Another successful run by participants of this program, in which the spirit of fun, cooperation, community and creativity, are embodied!

Burnaby Summer Theatre Presents:

SELERA and the Temple Of Zoom!

It’s Back! Students from Studio 58’s Theatre Program with sponsorship from Telus and Chevron are geared up and ready to bring you a new and exciting show for children of all ages.

When her mother gets poisoned by a spider, Selera, the girl who can run faster than anything, sets out on a journey to the Temple of Zoom on the Island of Gorlinga to find the only cure. Meeting strange creatures and traveling across new lands, can she save her mother before it’s too late?

In this epic interactive adventure, Selera makes new friends, overcomes obstacles, and finds out that she can’t run from everything.

Burnaby Summer Theatre Troupe will be showing at the Burnaby Arts Council for the month of July and will be touring the Lower Mainland in late July and August. We will be visiting Day Camps, Community Centre’s, Parks and more for both Public and Private shows. Make sure your kids don’t miss out on this great opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of live theatre…for FREE!
