Autumn Glow by Marney-Rose Edge
Marney-Rose Edge:  "As an artist I find the challenging medium of watercolour seductive for expressing my interpretation of nature's beauty. Creating bold, vibrant colour with a traditionally soft medium is very exciting and visually stimulating." marneybear@shaw.ca

Fall at Deer Lake by Eileen Harder
Eileen Harder:  is primarily a pastelist, but also works in oil and acrylic. Her work in this exhibit, "Fall at Deer Lake", is done in oil. She explains: "I painted what I saw which was brilliant orange and firey red set by brilliant green which came from a tree just outside Deer Lake Park. I decided to paint "Fall at Deer Lake" in oil, a stretch from my usual style and subject and medium." www.myartclub.com/Eileen.Harder

Ceramics-Emerald Fall by Patricia Haley-Tsui
Patricia Haley Tsui:  is a photographer, painter, fabric artist, and ceramicist. Patricia recently exhibited a collection of ceramics in the Deer Lake Gallery in June 2007: Stanley Park Tribute. "I find that exploring one type of medium leads me to others. Clay, fabric, photography, theatre, and canvas art. My style is funky, high quality, of the moment, and requires a secret ingredient - time."

Playground by Ikuko Kawai
Ikuko Kawai:  works in watercolour and oil. Ikuko's style is primitive, and her work is often whimsical and colourful. Her work is mostly portraits, landscapes and animals. "I enjoy the whole process of putting colours on the canvas to create the mutual balance … I believe in the utmost importance of colours next to each other."

Yesterday's Splendor by Laura Levitsky
Laura Levitsky:  is a nature artist and is inspired by British Columbia's landscape and wildlife. Laura works in acrylic paints which she feels most captures the realism of nature. She invests a great deal of time and energy to each of her paintings, sparing no detail. Laura is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. www.levitskyart.com

Flame Outburst by Lucille Loose
Lucille Loose:  Lucille's choice of painting with watercolors brings out wonderful color and textures. "The work I do represents many places I have visited and hope people see and feel my inspiration of the world around us. If others find pleasure in my paintings, then it gives me great joy and satisfaction to continue. Lucille is a long time, active member of the Burnaby Arts Council and Burnaby Artist Guild.

Ferns in the Fall by Wendy Mould
Wendy Mould:  Wendy is a self taught artist that has grown up on the west coast of British Columbia. Her work reflects the enjoyment she gets from spending time hiking and camping in coastal forests and shores. Wendy uses graphite, pen and ink, and watercolour paints. Her work is detailed, and enjoys creating miniatures. "Living on the coast of British Columbia I enjoy the dense forests, the beautiful mountains and the abundant wildlife. It is from this that I get my inspiration." www.artbywendy.com

Autumn by Nina Salehpoor
Nina Salehpoor:  is a graphic designer by profession. Nina began painting watercolours in Iran in 1998, and has since participated in three group exhibitions in different galleries in Tehran. "I really love watercolour and it has an essential effect in my life." Celebration of Fall is Nina's first showing at the Deer Lake Gallery.

Blue Jay-ing by Wendy Schmidt
Wendy Schmidt:  Wendy was born and raised in B.C. She started painting oils but soon moved on to watercolours, which she prefers for its transparency and light. Inspired by observing nature and taking pictures, she has a desire to conserve our earth and the wildlife that inhabits it. She enjoys painting wildlife and scenery. www.wendyschmidt.ca

Autumn Leaves by Sheryl SmithSheryl Smith:  Inspired by her father, the late Dr. Allan Smith who was an award-winning photographer, Sheryl has been taking pictures for most of her life. In 2005, Sheryl had her "Inukshuk…in the Image" photo selected by the Province's Travelling Roadshow, and exhibited a selection of her pictures at the Art Exhibit at Sea Vancouver. Sheryl's photos were part of a group show at the Burnaby Arts Council, and in August 2007, Sheryl's photographs were chosen to be gifts for the presenters at the Deaf Women's Conference. www.sherylrsmith@yahoo.com

Colourful by Joci Sirak
Joci Sirak:  was born and educated (background in Forestry) in Hungary, and moved to Canada in 1998. The landscapes of British Columbia rekindled her passion for photography., and soon after her move Joci decided to pursue it as a fine art form. "My aim is a perfectly balanced and harmonized picture, whether I have taken it in a national park or a lousy backyard. As the years go by, I am going deeper and deeper into the world of this media, and feel myself as a restless explorer, finding hidden treasures in every unobserved corner of this universe." www.sirakphoto.com

Recycled Coho by Bill Thomson
Bill Thomson:  works in mixed media, and often uses recycled materials to create 'one of a kind' assemblage sculpture. The results are whimsical and colourful. Thomson revisits the traditional perceptions between form and function, as he finds hidden meaning in the everyday things around him. Thomson has exhibited his assemblages locally and internationally for over 15 years.

Looking Up by Lone TrattLone Tratt:  presents an unusual diptic in the Celebration of Fall exhibition, two acrylic paintings which fit together visually. "My goal is to reveal the hidden beauty in everyday life. As an artist, I find myself in the auspicious position of communicating with the world through an optical language - a language with no boundaries." Lone has exhibited in numerous galleries locally, Quebec, Denmark, and in a number of west African countries. Her work can be found at the Children's Hospital, VGH, and at many Vancouver businesses.

Stroll at Dusk by Sallie WalkerSalli Walker:  is a self-taught photographer and lives at the Quay in New Westminster. "It is my greatest desire to have someone stop and look at one of my prints of very ordinary things (rocks, waves, a stream hidden in the woods), and to see beauty where perhaps they had previously been immune to it, in their hurry-up, run-away world." Salli is one of the founding members of "Artists in the River" in New Westminster. Her photo, "Stroll at Dusk", represent the colours of the Quay in the Fall, with spectacular sunsets seen from the boardwalk.

Writes of the River by Katherine Freud-HainsworthKatherine Freud-Hainsworth:  is a visual artist, published author, and historical researcher. Her work in the visual arts is diverse (ceramics, sculpture, drawing, painting, photography, collage), and she has exhibited in many galleries in the Lower Mainland. Recently, Katherine's focus has been on what she describes as "new media". After completing the research and writing of a history based book, Katherine had a desire to wed her writing and research to the visual arts. Katherine brings all aspects of her art work together, through a historical context.

Carine de Ridder:  came to Canada from South Africa three years ago. She began painting by taking courses offered locally. The natural beauty of the West Coast, in particular the amazing cloud formations and ever changing skies and soft hues during fall, have inspired her work. Carine prefers painting landscapes and most often chooses oil as her medium. Carine exhibited her art in the Tri-City area before showing her work at the Deer Lake Gallery.

Colours of Fall by Linda Turkington

Linda Turkington:  is an abstract artist and works in acrylic and watercolour paints, and mixed media. Linda also exhibited in the Deer Lake Gallery's Celebration of Spring exhibit this year.

Harrier at Deer Lake by Shelley McDonald
Shelley McDonald:  is a local artist that has used many mediums. Lately, she has focused on using watercolour pencil crayons to depict her snapshots of nature. Her piece in the exhibit, Harrier at Deer Lake, is a wonderful example of her current work. "Nature provides me with unlimited inspiration for my artwork. From isolating a small subject that might otherwise go unnoticed, to capturing a subject or moment for others to enjoy, is the true luxury of an artist."
