Art Lew
Involved with many artistic endeavours all his life, Art began his journey as a young child. Throughout his teens he was mentored by a professional artist, and after graduating from high school he began work in the art department of the Famous Players and Odeon Theatres in Vancouver. Art later moved to Toronto where he opened a successful retail business in the heart of Yorkville and Royal York.
Art captures images from his travels and from every day life, and stores them in his memory for later use. From the languid pastoral fields of Ontario to the mountain and water scenes of British Columbia, Art draws on these memories and vivid images at will and recollects the different elements from memory to complete his compositions.
Watercolour is Art's preferred medium. His passion is landscapes, but is known to dabble in portraits, still life, and florals
Jeannette Stigger
All through her years as a Mom and later as an Anglican parish priest, Jeannette carried a sketch book. When she retired from full-time ministry, Jeannette saw an opportunity to do something she had always wanted to do: to pursue her love of drawing.
Jeannette explains, "It began on the beach with thumbnail sketches of my small grandchildren, usually drawn on the back of envelopes, napkins, anything!" Jeannette went on to explore portraiture and life-drawing, working mostly in pastel.
Jeannette works with scenes and with florals, but her prime interest is portraits. "I guess it is not so huge a leap from working with people to painting them. I have learned to look and to see. The human face and figure inspires me with awe.
