Shojo Manga!
Sept. 19th to Nov. 9th, 2007
On September 19, the JCNM opens Shojo Manga! Girl Power! Girl Comics from Japan, an internationally acclaimed exhibition of more than 200 artworks from 23 artists who have contributed to modern manga in Japan. Opening reception: Wednesday, September 19, 7-9 pm. Free to the public.

Jude Griebel: A Cast of Shadows
October 30 – January 13, 2008 Reception: November 3, 1 – 3 p.m.

In Jude Griebel's prints, elements of storybook narrative and adult experience are combined to create scenes that have a foothold in both the real and imaginary. The costume has become a repetitive theme in his work as a tool of transformation, disappearance and disconnection from reality.

Port City Connect: From Burnaby to Brooklyn
October 30 – January 13, 2008 Reception: November 3, 1 – 3 p.m.

An international cultural exchange of west coast to east coast, Port City Connect links Canadians and Americans, youth, community and practicing contemporary artists. The exhibition is an exploration of cultural perspectives on ideas of home, neighbourhood, land and water, linking the communities of Burnaby and Brooklyn by bringing together senior high school students from Burnaby Central Secondary School and The New York Harbor School.

The Burnaby Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.


The Burnaby Rhododendron & Gardens Society (BRAGS)

The Burnaby Rhododendron and Gardens Society (BRAGS) is an active club made up of gardening enthusiasts with a wide range of interests and levels of knowledge

BRAGS holds its monthly meetings at 7:00 p.m. at the Burnaby Village Museum in the Discovery room, 6501 Deer Lake Ave, Burnaby. Doors open at 6:30 and meetings begin at 7:00pm. Visitors and new members are welcome free of charge.

November 7th Meeting:  Randy Solomon of the Backyard Bird Centre in Port Moody will be doing his Presentation - "Attracting Birds to the Garden".
