We are honored to have First Nation educator Kwantlen Elder Helen Carr at the Deer Lake Gallery. Allowing public the opportunity to experience and learn about the local Coast Salish culture and history through activities and presentation.

Well respected Kwantlen Elder Helen Carr, or Auntie as she prefers to be called, currently teaches beading in the Langley School District as part of the Aboriginal curriculum. Autie also speaks Halqeméylem when referring to colours or numbers. She has been teaching beading for many years. We are looking forward to Aunties stories and beading demonstration.

The Burnaby Arts Council are a non-profit organization for this demonstration we are asking participants to assist in covering the cost of our welcome guest.
