Are you passionate about elevating local artists in Burnaby? The Burnaby Arts Council (BAC) is looking for Volunteer Committee Members to support our community art gallery. We are seeking people who will join us in producing high quality art exhibitions at the Deer Lake Gallery. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in gaining work experience and developing skills in art curation, gallery operations, teamwork, and fine arts. 

General Committee Members 

  • Jury art submissions & support programming efforts for the Deer Lake Art Gallery
  • Connect artists with opportunities at the Deer Lake Art Gallery
  • Occasional attendance at BAC events and exhibitions

Special Roles

We are also looking to fill two special roles that will require a slightly larger time commitment and more responsibilities – Marketing Coordinator and Partnerships Coordinator. If you are interested in either of these roles please indicate that on our application form.

Marketing Coordinator

  • Work with staff to plan and execute marketing campaigns
  • Basic graphic design and caption writing
  • Managing Deer Lake Art Gallery social media channels; scheduling and re-sharing posts

Partnerships Coordinator

  • Outreach to local businesses and organizations
  • Work with Executive Director to network and form partnerships in the community 

Time Commitment

  • Bi-monthly meetings to discuss exhibition proposals and gallery activities
  • 2-6 hours per month working remotely related to particular role 

Desired Skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, productive and cooperative team player
  • Some knowledge or understanding of non-profit organizations and the arts
