Are you looking for an opportunity to attend some free arts events in Burnaby? The Burnaby Arts Council (BAC) is looking for Volunteer Special Events Attendants. You would be helping with the operations of our special events and have the opportunity to experience the colorful arts scene in the community! We host a variety of events outside of our regular exhibitions such as:

  • Live at the Gallery, a monthly music series at our Deer Lake Art Gallery
  • Paint Party, a regular series of community paint nights
  • Farmers Market, our own children’s craft booth at the Nikkei Garden Farmers Market
  • Artist Talks & Workshops
  • Opening Reception for exhibitions
  • Deer Lake Craft Festival

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Set-up and clean up for events
  • Preparing and serving refreshments
  • Handling transactions for sale of refreshments, t-shirts and other gallery souvenirs
  • Engaging guests and educating them about the event, the Deer Lake Art Gallery, and the Burnaby Arts Council
  • Assisting the performers, artists, or instructors as needed

 

Time Commitment

  • Minimum 4 hours per month but varies depending on the event and if you participate in multiple events per month

 

Desired Skills

  • Enthusiasm for arts events in Burnaby
  • Comfortable interacting with the public, good interpersonal skills
  • Serving it Right is an asset
  • Organized with good attention to detail 
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
