The Burnaby Arts Council welcome Opus Art Supplies as our presenting sponsor for all of our 2019 Park’s Edge events!
Join us at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on Friday, November 22 from 6 – 8 pm. Experience live painting in action! See the artists start with a blank canvas to a finished piece in 2 hours.
3…2…1 and PAINT! Excited to announce the addition of a live painting competition on Friday, November 22nd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM located in the main atrium at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts!

Peter Martin

Working primarily in acrylic, Dimitri captures the essence of personality in his works relying on his own imaginative perception as well as photo reference.

Colorful visual artist based in BC, Canada.
Alice Wei
Local artist who works primarily with watercolour. Her works evoke a sense of elegance and reminiscent of japanese anime. Find her at her instagram for more information!
Madeleine Wynne
Madeleine is an illustrator from rainy Vancouver who started drawing at age 3. (More specifically, she was made to draw at age 3 because it was the only thing that kept her quiet in church)
Jeremy Henrickson
Working with an array of mixed media methods, JPH’s work awakens emotion and expression from the subject.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE – VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE PIECE!
Winner is selected by popular vote starting on Friday, Nov 22 @ 8:00 PM and closes on Sunday, Nov 24 @ 4:00 PM. Winner will be announced online on the morning of Tuesday, November 26th. So stay tuned! There can be only one WINNER!

This year, we’ll have a performance by Lenny Pallerstein to accompany the Paint Off. Enjoy the live painting action while listening to his soothing guitar.

SILENT AUCTION – Nov 22 – 24
You will have a chance to support the artists and the Burnaby Arts Council through a SILENT AUCTION for each if the artworks, bidding begins at the event on Saturday, November 23 @ 10:00AM until Sunday, November 24th @ 4:00 pm. The auction will transfer to a live auction from Monday, November 25 – midnight December 2nd.

Park’s Edge cannot wait for you to join us for the 5th Annual Park’s Edge Paint Off in Burnaby British Columbia!
3-2-1…. and paint. The final words one often hears when entering the colour massacres of live painting competitions. Usually a short amount of time, a palette of colours, brush in hand and an audience of eager onlookers excited about what creations lay in store from the competitors. Vancouver has seen a plethora of new live painting events pop up in recent years; from Art Battle, Golden Brush’s Battle of the Brush, SNAG, Vancouver Art Attack and others they have all become a unique way for art lovers and creators to come together and get closer to the creative process. Mingle that with an emphasis on speed and the chance for prizes and recognition and it’s a recipe for a fun engaging event with thrills, excitement and culture. Audience voting determine the winners of the events, and silent auction for the real prize of those who will get to walk home with a one-of-a-kind piece of art?

What is Park’s Edge Paint Off?
A community live painting tournament showcasing local artists bridging the gap between the art lover and artist! Audience vote determines the winner & all paintings will be available via silent auction.

Who are the artists participating in the live painting tournament?
The call is out for the artists for the 2019 event is currently happening. . . there will be maximum of 20 artist competing! There will always be a few of our favourites returning plus new artist will to take on the Park’s Edge Paint OFF!
Is the event FREE?
YES! Many people have never seen how paintings are created and it is an exciting spectacle to get a glimpse of what the creative process looks like first hand.
What can I expect at Park’s Edge?
1:00 Artists begin painting, theme and style is open to the artists. Silent Auction opens.
1:00 – 3:00 Artists have 2 hours to paint and the audience can mix and mingle
2:00 Community can begin voting for their favorite artist.
3:15 Voting closes and organizers tally
1:00 – 5:00 Live Music all day long!
4:00 Winner of the Park’s Edge Paint Off Announced
4:30 Silent Auction Closed
10:00 AM Sunday, July 7th ONLINE auctions opens for the top 10 voted art works (ends Friday, July 12th 10:00 AM)
This year the top 10 art pieces (voted by the public) will be extended to a live ONLINE auction. The ONLINE auction closes on Friday, June 12th @ 10:00 am.

Why is there a Silent Auction?
Park’s Edge is an amazing community event. Audience can walk home with a one-of-a-kind piece of art and help the Burnaby Arts Council to raise money so we can organize even more community events! All artwork created at Park’s Edge is available for silent auction with 50% of the proceeds going to the artist.
NEW – Why is there a Live ONLINE Auction?
For the first time ever the TOP 10 art pieces (voted by the public) will be extended to an ONLINE live auction. The ONLINE opens on Sunday, July 7th @ 10:00 am and closes on Friday, June 12th @ 10:00 am. All art works in the ONLINE auction can be picked up at the Deer Lake Art Gallery, 6584 Deer Lake Avenue, Burnaby
